Christiaan Huygens (1629-1695) worked out a mathematical wave idea of light in 1678, and printed it in his Treatise on light in 1690. He proposed that light was emitted in all Instructions as being a series of waves in the medium known as the Luminiferous ether. As waves will not be afflicted by gravity, it was assumed which they slowed down upon m
